General Description of the W-type Mining Cable
Monopolar cable consisting of a soft tinned copper conductor in flexible construction, thermosetting insulation and sheath of ethylene propylene (EPR) and chlorinated polyethylene (CPE) respectively.

Main Applications
Type W single-conductor mine cables are used to power hauling equipment or electric locomotives, where the cable is subjected to constant bending and winding.
- Features of the Type W Mining Cable
- Maximum operating voltage: 2000V.
- Maximum operating temperature: 90°C.
- The conductor is made of soft tinned copper in a flexible construction. Untinned copper is available upon request. Gauges range from 8.37 to 506.7 mm2 (8 AWG to 1,000 kcmil).
- The ethylene propylene (EPR) insulation contributes to the cable’s flexibility.
- Textile reinforcement in the jacket gives the cable greater mechanical strength.
- Heavy-duty chlorinated polyethylene (CPE) outer sheath, resistant to mechanical abuse (tearing and abrasion), oils, acids, and alkalis.
- Resistant to flame propagation. The outer sheath is black.
